Blazers open the season at 2 and 0
The Millbrook boys’ basketball team opened their season as champions winning two and a row against the Liberty Indians and the O’Neill Raiders at the S.S. Seward Tip Off Tournament last week.
Despite knowing little about their opponents, the Blazers – after narrowly missing a section title last year – dominated Liberty on Thursday by a score of 58 to 31 and edged out O’Neill on Saturday 67 to 59.
Newly named Head Coach Brian Kelly said his team did little scouting before the games, but was confident in his team’s ability to execute. “The only thing I was concerned about was how we were going to match up,” he said. “You can play five on five in practice all you want, but until that ball goes live against a real opponent, you never know how things are going to pan out.”
