It was a crisp bright Monday morning to commence the VFW Post 9008 Veteran's Day ceremony. The community gathered at the Veteran’s Green in front of the Millbrook Fire House to honors those who have served and who continue to serve this country. Town of Washing Supervisor and veteran Gary Ciferri lead the ceremony, which began with an opening prayer from Lyall Federated Church Reverend Donna Frischknecht-Jackson. A wreath was placed on the village green memorial while Millbrook High School band members Philip Konys and Matt Martel played taps. Ciferri read 14 names of veterans from the Town of Washington who passed away since last years Veteran's Day. Ciferri called Veteran's Day a tribute to a devotion to duty. Frischknecht-Jackson gave the closing prayer telling attendees to keep the memory of our veterans alive through storytelling.
This year the Millbrook Hunt held their inaugural MH Team Chase instead of the Hunter Trials. The idea was to make a change and involve more riders who would prefer to ride in pairs or teams of three. The event held at Coole Park
Farm was run over a course about a mile and half long designed by Viviann Berlinghoff with 17 fences. A good time was had by all including those at the landowners lunch who could watch all the riders and the course.
