The construction on the north side of Route 44 on Delavergne Hill is now complete. The public can now enjoy the view from the newly installed parking lot that is equipped with a pair of wooden benches.
An impressive collection of Dutchess County Republicans were on hand for the dedication in mid-October, including Senator Sue Serino, County Executive Marc Molinaro, Dutchess County Sheriff Butch Anderson and Amenia Town Supervisor, Victoria Perotti.
Pedro Torres, President of Stone Leaf Partners, said that the park will be maintained in perpetuity by the developers and kept open from dawn to dusk, weather permitting. The overview is the principal and sole benefit bestowed on the Town of Amenia by the developer of the Silo Ridge project. The promise of affordable housing and a wastewater treatment plant were dropped from the developer’s plan during the planning process. The overview had been offered to the town but the town elected to let the developer retain the property and be responsible for its maintenance.
The overview can be approached from both the downhill and uphill lanes. A small sign with the Silo Ridge logo – a bird - now marks the entrance.
