Many of us here in Millbrook were saddened to learn that Maureen Murphy Gregory had died at home on Friday, August 19 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
“Mo,” as everyone called her, received her terrible diagnosis with her usual positive attitude, and somehow managed to face each day with the same beaming smile with which she greeted everyone who came the post office where she worked for over twenty years.
Maureen was born in Poughkeepsie on July 13, 1958, daughter of Patricia A. and Daniel A. Murphy. After graduating from Our Lady of Lourdes High School she attended Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie.
In addition to her husband, Michael, Maureen is survived by her siblings Kevin Murphy, Mary Murphy Campbell, James Murphy, William Murphy, Anne "Resa" Murphy, their spouses and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family and friends, many of whom were with her when she died, will miss her generous, kind and considerate spirit. So too will everyone who knew her.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Avenue, Millbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, August 24 at 11:00 am from St. Joseph's Church, North Avenue, Millbrook. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
