Noticing a flurry of construction activity at Amory Winthrop’s old barn on Little Rest Road, we stopped in and learned that the new owner is Michael DiValentino from Highland in Ulster County. In a brief phone call he told us he is restoring the barn with a view to housing his polo ponies there. The barn has a spacious indoor ring. His 14 year-old son is playing interscholastic polo while he plays club polo on a private field on the other side of the river. He told us he is a JAG officer with the US Army Reserves with the rank of Lt. Col. He hopes to build a house on the property and to move here.
