Claire Nemes and Rebecca Erickson, members of the Cary Institute’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program, are among a lucky few who have found a career interest at an early age.  Of the more than 200 students who applied, only 11 were chosen for the program, which gives college undergraduates the chance to come to the institute for three summer months to work on a research project of their choice.

With the help of a mentor, students design their project, conduct the research, analyze data, and, finally, present their findings at a symposium. This year’s symposium will take place on Friday, August 17, from 1:00–4:30 p.m.
