On August 4 through 7 the Millbrook Horse Trials (MHT) take place at Coole Park Farm. Now in its 15th year, the three day event attracts over 500 horse-rider pairs from Olympic-level competitors to amateur riders. Over 4,000 spectators come to watch the only sport in which women and men compete against one another.
This year the event takes place during the Summer Olympics in Rio where the US Eventing team will be competing. Both Phillip Dutton and Boyd Martin, both long-time MHT competitors, will be riding for this country.
“Phillip and Boyd have become real fixtures at MHT,” said MHT President and international event rider Louise Meryman. “While we will miss Phillip and Boyd this year, we wish them and their teammates much success in Rio, and we will be cheering them on from Millbrook.” Thanks to the U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) in conjunction with MHT, the Rio equestrian competition will be live-streamed on Saturday and Sunday during the event.
Visitors are welcome to watch the event for free providing they stay within the prescribed bounds on the course.
