Kent Tritle at the Smithfield tracker organ

The Smithfield Presbyterian Church in Amenia on Route 83, once again presents New York Philharmonic organist, Kent Tritle, for an afternoon of classical music to benefit the Oratorio Society of New York on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 3:30 pm. Tritle is Principal Organist for The New York Philharmonic and American Symphony Orchestra, Director of The Oratorio Society and Musica Sacra, and organist and Director of Music at St. John the Divine Cathedral.

Mr. Tritle ‘s program will be:

Praeludium in E Major, BWV 141, Dietrich Buxtehude

Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir, BWV 686, J. S. Bach

Schmuecke dich, o Liebe Seele, J. Brahms

Prelude and Fugue in E Minor, BWV 548, J. S. Bach

O Welt, ich muss dich lassen, J. Brahms

Sonata IV in B flat, Felix Mendelssohn (four movments)

Tritle is noted for his lightning finger dexterity, unerring sense of rhythm, and encyclopedic repertoire on the keyboard. He will play the church’s 1893 Johnson tracker organ.
