Kent Tritle at the Smithfield tracker organ

The Smithfield Presbyterian Church in Amenia on Route 83, once again presents New York Philharmonic organist, Kent Tritle, for an afternoon of classical music to benefit the Oratorio Society of New York on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 3:30 pm. Tritle is Principal Organist for The New York Philharmonic and American Symphony Orchestra, Director of The Oratorio Society and Musica Sacra, and Organist and Director of Music at St. John the Divine Cathedral. Tritle will be playing works by Bach, Mendelssohn, and Brahms. Mr. Tritle ‘s program will be:

Dietrich Buxtehude, Praeludium in C, BuxWV 137                                   

 J.S. Bach, Pièce d’Orgue, BWV 572                              

 Johannes Brahms, Three Chorales, Op.122                                 

            Herzliebster Jesu

            O Welt, ich muss dich lassen

            Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele

 J. S. Bach, Toccata, Adagio & Fugue in C, BWV 564  

 Felix Mendelssohn, Prelude and Fugue in C Minor, Opus 37, No.1         

Tritle is noted for his lightning finger dexterity, unerring sense of rhythm, and encyclopedic repertoire on the keyboard. He will play the church’s 1893 Johnson tracker organ. Tickets are $20 at the door. Doors will open at 3 pm. All proceeds will go to the  New York Oratorio Society.
