CHRISTOPHER BRELLOCHS and ELIZABETH GERBI

CHRISTOPHER BRELLOCHS and ELIZABETH GERBI will be performing at Smithfield Church this coming Sunday at 10 am. The program will include: 

"Simple Song" from Leonard Bernstein's (1918-1990) Mass

"Something Beautiful" by Stephen Flaherty (b. 1960) and Lynn Ahrens (b.1948)

"Theme and Variations" from Fantaisie, Op. 50 by Jean Baptiste Singelèe (1812-1875)

Brellochs (saxophonist, conductor and educator) has performed in Las Vegas, France, Germany and throughout the New York City metropolitan area including venues from Carnegie Hall to Birdland. Recent collaborations with vocalist Elizabeth Gerbi include “A Little Night Music Cabaret” (Las Vegas, NV), “Music of the Gilded Age: Music from Adolphe Sax, Gilbert & Sullivan, and Jerome Kern” (Chappaqua, NY), “A French-American Musical Exchange” (Paris, France).

Brellochs’s recordings include Quiet City (2011) which features the world premiere recording of Aaron Copland’s complete incidental music for Quiet City in its original instrumentation. Brellochs worked from the unpublished manuscript to bring this adaptation to life, which The Copland Estate and Boosey & Hawkes have embraced and published; he was interviewed and the recording received radio play on National Public Radio: Weekend Edition and Performance Today, and print reviews in Gramophone (Awards 2011) and Der Spiegel magazines. Other recordings include classical CD Apotheosis of the Saxophone (2008).

Brellochs is Chair of the Music Program at SUNY Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York, USA. As 21st century educator he has an active YouTube channel for his series of music theory lessons. He begins his first year as conductor of the Mid-Hudson Community Orchestra fall 2017.

Elizabeth Gerbi, currently a Full-Time Instructor of Musical Theatre at the State University of New York at Dutchess Community College, is well known across the country as a singing teacher, voice coach, choral conductor, and music director/pianist (160+ productions). She has previously taught on the faculty of SUNY New Paltz, and most recently served as a Visiting Professorial Lecturer of Musical Theatre at The American University.

As a singer-actor, she has appeared in regional productions ranging from I Pagliacci to Les Miserables to The Kenny Rogers Christmas Tour.  Recent projects include music directing The Chris Betz Show (Rose’s Turn/Sage Theatre, NYC), Side Show and Tommy (Westchester Broadway Theatre), accompanying master classes for Broadway performers Ken Jennings, Lisa Howard, and Lindsay Mendez, adapting Starmites for Broadway composer Barry Keating, and participating in a recent European tour with her husband (and favorite collaborator), Christopher Brellochs, performing at venues such as the prestigious Paris church Saint Merri and nearby Conservatoire Saint-Maur.
