Survival is always a problem with publications. Writers want to be paid. So do others. Like web designers, bookkeepers, accountants, the folks who put together our calendar, write reviews and report the news. We have a team of talented people who serve our reading public by keeping up with the news, who take pictures, format stories, post them to our website, send out our weekly blasts. Those costs run about $6,000 a month. Every month.
We are doing what public radio does. We are initiating a campaign for Staying Afloat. We are asking our readers to help support this effort in local journalism by sending in a check. If what we do helps you in any way, we ask that you chip in whatever you think this effort is worth to you. We exist to serve you. Our advertising is near nil. On-line ads are not popular with local business. Like public radio, we need sponsors. Please send a check to: The Millbrook Independent, PO Box 1210, Millbrook, NY 12545. These gifts are not tax-deductible (unless you become a business sponsor) as we are not a 501(c)3 charity.
