Hathaway Young, the new specialty food shop that opened last week on South Center Street in Millerton, is the latest enterprise of Pete Hathaway and chef Bruce Young. The epitome of minimalist chic, the shop offers customers exceptional dishes either for take out – “grab and go” as they call it - or to eat at one of the tables on the premises.
Breads, cookies cakes and pastries, many of them gluten free, are freshly baked daily in their kitchen. Also prepared every day are an enticing array of soups and hot lunch dishes including spanakopita, shepherd’s pie, and lasagna that are large enough to serve six or eight people. There are also many tempting salads and sandwiches.
A number of items with a distinctive Green Label have been specially prepared by Gina Trivelli, a chef and certified health coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York. As one might expect, her offerings focus on healthy eating with lots of anti-oxidents. Also worth mentioning are the items imported from Europe and Great Britain – cheeses, herbs and spices, condiments, patés, - the list is endless.
Hathaway Young also specializes in catered events from private dinner parties to large celebrations of several hundred people. For more information visit their website: www.hathawayyoung.com
