Cindy Tripp Obituary

Cindy Tripp (Cynthia M. Tripp), age 62, passed away on September 29th, 2016, after a brief illness. Born in Detroit, Michigan on November 5th, 1953, to Isaac and Jeanne Tripp, Cindy attended grade school in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and subsequently the Grier School in Tyrone, PA. She received a Bachelor of Science from The American University School of International Service and a Master's in Decorative Arts from BARD Graduate Center of Decorative Arts. 

Her career encompassed many roles. As a trader and banker, she worked at Lek Securities, Bear Stearns, First Boston, and Banker’s Trust, where she became the first woman on the Japan desk. Cindy later moved to Millbrook, NY where she was a reporter for the Millbrook Independent newspaper covering small town affairs and the town of Stanfordville.  She held a real estate license working with Stribling & Associates in NYC and Millbrook Real Estate. 

Cindy was an avid art collector, appraiser, dealer and artist. She was involved in The Cleveland Arts Museum and a member of The National Arts Club and Daughters of The American Revolution. She was also passionate about animal rights and the environment. 

In her last years, Cindy was a dedicated and selfless caregiver and advocate for her aging mother. Cindy  was known for her dry sense of humor, curious intellect, great wit, a passionate personality and a fabulous sense of style. She was an avid runner and practiced yoga daily. Her friends were very important to her and she to them. She was loved by many. 

She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church - Lithgow, where she will be laid to rest. She was a member of the Millbrook Golf and Tennis Club and The Tamarack Preserve. She was a supporter of the Audubon Society and the Sierra Club. 

Cindy is predeceased by her father, Isaac Tripp,Sr. She is survived by her mother Jeanne B.Tripp, her uncle, her brother Ike, her sister Carol, and their families. She is also survived by her cousins Guy Farmer, his wife Mary, Wylie Mertz, her husband Johnny, and their children.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cindy’s name to The Sierra Club, The Audubon Society or The Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation. 

 The burial will be held Thursday November 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Church Cemetery, Lithgow, N.Y. All are welcome. The memorial service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016 11:00 am at St. Peter's Church, Lithgow, 692 Deep Hollow Rd, Millbrook, NY. Reception to follow.
