Aging & Time

At eighty-one

you are the one

to whom we look

for wisdom when shook

by odd events

or absurd comments

on how we live

and we depend on you to give

sensible advice

on health, death, and ice

cubes for the table

because you are able

to discern fact from fiction

and wit from dereliction,

even if you can't recall

the name of anyone at all.
